Too often too many of us take life for granted. We need to pause and think about life. We need to ask ourselves "What is human life?" Being a human is not an excuse for inadequacy or indifference, rather it is a challenge to better oneself and the world in which we live.
So, what is human life?
Human life is a gift. Human life is a privilege. Human life is a blessing. Human life is given to us by a higher power that allows us to talk, think, act, lead, work, and formulate things for the good of humanity. We have no control over the time we are to be born, and we have no control when we are to pass from this stage of existence. Life is something that the individual cannot start and under normal conditions finish by him/herself. "No person is an island by him/herself." No one person can truly live a worthwhile life without interacting with others. Life, like love, is giving and receiving. A worthwhile life is one where the price is being a good neighbor and friend.
So, what is human life?
Human life consists of sharing and being part of a family and a community. It is being a good citizen, who pays bills on time, supports family, has a spiritual affiliation and is ready to help a neighbor. Human life is being selfless with one's talents, skill and abilities, recognizing that these were gifts given to be shared. It is making sure that our young people have the opportunity to receive the best education possible and to be exposed to the highest moral and ethical values. Human life is remembering that the sacrifices of good people in previous generations make us debtors, but also summons the present generation to transmit worthy and noble standards and ideals for future generations.
Human life is alike a ladder where we are constantly climbing toward a higher goal. But, we must also beware that as we ascend, we can also descend. So, as we stand on the ladder of life, we must ask ourselves, "Where am i now? In what direction am I going?"
Each of us is born with two inclinations, one positive and one negative.it is within our power to choose. Each of us has the opportunity to choose the positive, to be and do something worthwhile. At birth, each of us stands at the base of the ladder of life> It is from there that we make our life.
